My name is Derek Johnson, and I'm an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in Southeastern Wisconsin and former photojournalist.
With AmeriCorps, I help a free clinic and its associated hospital with communications and administrative-related work while assisting the clinic with its day-to-day operations.
Before serving with AmeriCorps, I worked as a photojournalist and reporter in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties for roughly 2 years. I covered events like the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and the Milwaukee Bucks' 2021 championship game.
I also write occasional video game reviews for Jump Dash Roll, a small United Kingdom-based gaming website, and enjoy taking non-news related photographs in my spare time.
